We just finished watching the movie Alvin and the Chipmunks.
Kim: I want to watch another one.
Me: Nope
Kim: I want to watch another one!
Me: N.O. No.

Papa to me: I just put eighty bucks in your wallet.
Me: Ok. Thanks.
Kim: I want to see mama's wallet.
Me: Why?

Our little K is three
Our little girl has turned 3. We had two little celebrations for her. One with the family (grandparents) and another in school.
I couldn't wait to give her her present so during the weekend when we were having the family celebration I gave it to her. She loved the dresser especially the makeup pieces, which she promptly put to use on me, papa and Ben.
Apparently, I need to apply eyeshadow at home.
And foundation.
We had our little family celebration at Bukit where she ate her pasta really quickly. The incentive was that she could open the pressie from her grandparents after.
Opening her pressie - a Hello Kitty doctor set.
The birthday cake she wanted. She told me several months before her actual birthday that she wanted a donkey cake. The only donkey she knew was Eeyore so I ploughed the web for an Eeyore cake and here it is.
Except that Eeyore looks like he got a sunburn on his face. But the little girl didn't notice and was very happy to eat the little bugs and probably Eeyore too if we didn't stop her.
Enjoying her cake.
Picking off the ladybug to eat.
Our cheeky monkey posing.
Hopping around like frogs.
Simon says, "Touch your knees."
Simon says, "Touch your toes."
Free running.
=============================================
Goals for her 3rd birthday: Not to cling to mummy the whole time. Not to cry when children sing to her. Both successful.
Goals for her 4th birthday: Blow out candle. Cut the cake.
Note to mummy: Remember plates and cutlery next year

Finally a demure one.
This was her birthday in school. Her nursery class was going outdoors and we hovered around them.

Free running.
Look out! Here comes the crocodile.
Crossing the road.
Bye for now. See you at tea-time.
With her new friend and outdoor partner, Hui Wen.
Enjoying cake no.2, which she also chose, from pictures she saw with me. The baby beetle was her choice consistently for several weeks so I got it for her.
Her classmates enjoying the cake. Some friends (Eugene) had three helpings! They really love cakes!
Giving of goody bags. Her little friends each got one. She received a hug and thanks in return.
She gets a hug from the Chinese teacher - Zhou Lao Shi
And one from Teacher Gladys.
Checking out her own goody bag! A kaleidoscope. She helped to pack all 22 goody bags the night before.
And have Hannah read to her.
Then it was Macs for dinner. When we told her we were going to Macs for dinner, her response was, "Today?"
Our little girl is now in nursery class. She is learning to bathe herself in school and has to feed herself totally. The teachers are training them to be more independent so she comes home and wants to dress and undress herself. Sometimes it can be quite funny. She understands alot more now and would often retort by trying to exert herself verbally. Most of the time we think it's funny but try to keep a straight face.

The birthday girl takes her seat.
Her friends sang to her in both English and Mandarin. She did sit by herself and did not cry from the attention. A vast improvement from last year. But she did not want to blow out the candle nor cut her cake.

After school, another surprise. Aunty Sharon and Hannah came to visit. She was thrilled to play with Hannah.

She loves her brother to bits. She tries really hard to amuse him. She could have a conversation with him for a long time in the car. Mostly shouting out names of things she sees as we drive by them and he would squeal with laughter. Whenever we tell her to show him how to do something, she would be very diligent about it. We mostly tell her to show him how to eat fast. Something that seems more effective than repeated reminders which always progress to threats and warnings. Yes, she still takes an hour plus to finish ONE meal much to our dismay but aside from feeding, she is the perfect child. Sure, she throws tantrums and shouts to get her way sometimes but she always makes us laugh and has brought so much joy to us in the last three years.
She is growing at such an amazing rate that we already miss the baby and toddler stage where she was so small and dependent. But even as she becomes more independent, it'll just be other fun things we can do. She still loves animals. She is learning to identify common birds - mynahs, sparrows, crows & the night jar which we have tried twice in vain to find again since spotting it at the club.
Our darling girl. Already three. A source of joy. A source of laughter. Our baby. We love you.

K tries really hard to amuse B
K learnt the YOG cheer some time ago in school. She was trying to amuse B with it, with some success. Until she got over enthusiastic with being animated.
It seems here like she realises when he starts to get upset. She went up to him to hug him just as he started to get upset. Interesting.

24 October 2010
While bathing Ben today, he decided that he needed to pee. So we had to stop the bath. Instead, I took him into the shower to rinse him off.
While drying him, he regurgitated his milk all over his towel. Had to clean him up again.
Then Peen wanted to take a pic of him naked on the mattress.
After the photo-taking session, I found a puddle on the mattress. Grrr.

At least it was a nice pic.

Kim says
This is the wallpaper on P's laptop. K, as usual, finding some reason to stall and not go to bed, looked on with interest. I think she noticed it again because P has recently cleared his laptop and it now has much fewer icons.
She asked whose hands they were. P told her that they were hers and mine when she was just a day old.
She thought for a while and asked, "Kimberley got no thumb?"

K starts using chopsticks
A little help with where to put her little fingers.
She stares at her fingers and tries to remember what she has been told.
She adjusts her fingers for greater comfort.
A little practice...picking up her hand.
Within minutes she has picked up some noodles and placed them onto the spoon.
What a look of concentration. Love the big eyes there.
I can put the noodles straight into my mouth with my chopsticks if I want
Or eat the whole spoonful of noodles.
Well done little girl.
As papa would say, you are slowly learning to be like Kungfu panda. A cartoon you must have watched at least 50 times before turning 34 months. You watched the WHOLE movie last night before bedtime. And you watched the whole movie AGAIN this morning when you woke up. You have even started quoting from the show. And in many instances throughout the day, you would make references to the movie.
1) As you were eating with your chopsticks: Kungfu panda also eat Ning Yong Bao with chopsticks. He was fighting with Shifu remember?
2) As we drive on a flyover: Remember Mantis, Viper, Tigress fight with Tai Lung on bridge?
3) With noodles sticking out of the side of her mouth: Remember Shifu also has moustache?
4)Fireworks: Remember Kungfu panda also has fireworks?
You certainly make your papa very proud.

More skirts for K
Decided that K needed more skirts. Those that would actually cover some of her thighs, instead of just her butt. I finally made two from the fabric stash that has been sitting in my fabric drawer, waiting to be transformed into something useful.
This one took me a while to do. I basically had an idea what I wanted it to look like and just went ahead to make it. Trial and error.
This one is a circular skirt, following Lorraine's skirt cheat sheet. Nice, I like but I think only some fabric can be used to make this. Those that actually are not too stiff. Anyway, K really likes this one but it's not like she can twirl it to see its effects yet.

The evil mother
I was out today with my ex-colleague and friend. We were at cold storage browsing. I decided to get some fruits. I was pushing B along in his pram and choosing some apples. I was holding one in my hand. Suddenly another one dropped. I tried to catch it but the one I was holding flew out of my hand.........towards my son. Seconds later he was crying. Can't believe it. I threw an apple at my son!
On the bright side, it was a good thing I wasn't buying watermelons. Or durians for that matter. Thanks P for the consolation.

Lift woes
2 Oct, Sat
We decided to brave the crowds and take the LRT to compass Pt for dinner and then go check out some covers for our iPhone 4. We bought a silicon cover each. On the way home, P and I were really engrossed talking outside the lift on the tenth floor. I suddenly realized that we were all out of the lift except K.
Instinctively I called out to her and jumped forward to press the lift button to ensure the doors stayed opened. But I was too late. I saw her blank face screw up and she started screaming as the doors shut and the lift started going down. I panicked and wanted to run down the stairs after my baby girl. P said he'd go down in the next lift and told me to wait outside the lift in case she came up back. The lift took such a long time! I heard her screaming all the way downstairs.
Of course my mind started playing tricks on me and I was worried she'd be kidnapped and i'd never see her again but as the lift came back up, there she was. My baby, all in tears. With two strangers beside her trying to comfort her. I dashed into the lift and picked up my baby girl and hugged her like there was no tomorrow.
That night, we went through what if scenarios of getting separated in lifts and trains. But would a two and a half remember what has been told to her in times of panic?

B is 3 months old
B is 3 months old. Already. How time flies. 5.9kg. 59cm. 25-50th percentile. He's not as chubby as K was but he definitely has a few folds.
He is a real sweetheart. He has captured the hearts of his grandparents. He smiles and coos at them. He tries to talk to them and can sometimes carry out a "conversation" for a good 5 minutes.
He's definitely more aware of his surroundings now and is very curious to check out new environments. He would watch me while in his cot as I walk around his cot putting laundry into his chest of drawers and packing his room. He'd then get upset when I walk away. It's almost like he's following me with his eyes to ensure I'm not going too far away.
He has found his full head of soft curly hair. When he's tired and sucking on his pacifier or when he's feeding, he'd always use one hand to rub his hair. That's something that K used to do too.
He smiles all the time.
He loves it and chuckles when I sit up him on my lap and hold his arms and support his little wobbly head while I rock him gently to Row, row, row your boat. He also laughs out loud when we support his torso and let him "jump" on his tiny feet. He still doesn't like tummy time.
I've also stopped his meds for his suspected reflux problem. Tho' the last few days when I fed him, he was able to take both the sweet and the yuky one without crying in the mornings.

He averages 6-7 feeds a day and has started sleeping through the night. For a few weeks now, he'd go to bed for the day at about 8-9pm. I'd wake him up for his last feed at about midnight and he'd sleep till about 7am the next morning. Well done little one. Thank you for letting mummy sleep through the night.

He has a new pose which he does very often. A kungfu pose. :)
