Picasso day

These five behaved like they haven't seen each other in years! It's like everyone wanted to hold everyone else's hand. Little boy also wanted to have a che che hold his hand. And they started running five in a row! Luckily it wasn't too crowded. Couldn't take a decent shot of them at all. Ha.

Finally got a more focused shot of the four girls. Love the dress alike outfit.

All dressed in apron and berets.

Teacher for the day and a sample of what they are to paint.

Raring to go.

Little Picassos at work.

Pink sky because it is sunset. Actually it's because it's her favorite colour.

Drying her painting.

Finished product.

Four proud little girls.

She had such a fun time she has asked for more and even wants us to sign her up for art classes! Hmm. Where in our busy schedule can we slot this?

Excursion to NEX

K had her last excursion with her current school MFS. I have to eat my words. In my post Girls' Day Out, I scoffed at how students from another branch of MFS were at the Kidz Rainforest water play area getting completely drenched, fully clothed! I remember I said to P that I hope it would never happen to K.

Well, the consent form came. The teachers were going to bring the kids to NEX. They were going to watch The Rise of the Guardians, have a picnic lunch and then go to the water play area. Yes, fully clothed. I had to let her go. It was her last excursion with her friends and teachers. And it would be a nice way to end this chapter for her. So she went. And so did I with another mummy.

After the movie, they gathered at the water play area, supposedly to have lunch but it was way too hot. And with very little shade, the poor things could hardly keep their eyes open. Our lady like girl simply sat on her bag while she waited for something to happen.

Finally they were led indoors. They lined two sides of a corridor and ate their lunch. Hmmm. Some were innovative and used their bags like a table. At the end of lunch, there was enough food on the floor to feed an army of ants. But some of the little girls helped to clean it up.

Finally, after endless requests that streamed in to visit the toilet after lunch, they returned to the water play area. They were told to remove their shoes and stand in one line. They did very well, considering it was a class of 28.

Charge!! They were set loose.

Some went straight into the water and got completely drenched. Others were a little apprehensive about being soaked and had to look around to check how wet their friends were getting before taking the plunge themselves.

Going down the slippery slope.

Running wildly with one of the triplets.

Completely soaked but happy.

This was where the giant pail of water poured down.

Myu watching the pail.

Haha. Love the expressions.

Splosh!

Yikes! Run away!

That was fun. Must do it again.

Time to get dry and changed.

All dry now and ready to return to school. Happy but tired little faces.

What an end to a chapter of her life! While we await the next chapter to begin, it will be more playtime with mummy and B.

Pasir Ris Park Mangrove Boardwalk (2)

During the Deepavali break, we took a trip to the Pasir Ris Mangrove Boardwalk again. We were there 2 years ago when B was but a wee one.

We saw different animals this time round.

A small monitor lizard tanning.

A crab peeking out of its hole.

An eel.

Gar fish.

Crabs climbing up to escape from the incoming tide.

A jellyfish! How unexpected.

Kingfisher.

Whimbrel.

Grey Heron.

A slithering snake.

B walked the whole way and tried to look for things that we spotted and pointed out to him.

A row of crabs.

Love it when they get along.

Mudskipper.

Swimming away.

I remember the last time K asked to feed the pony but chickened out in the end. Am very proud of her this time. She actually did it. B, however,  had to be "coaxed". But he did say it was fun but ticklish. They both declined the pony rides which Faith and Sarah both did.

We meet the Chens there and had lunch. The kids as usual had a wonderful screaming and giggly time with one another.

Girls' day out

We had a girls' day out today, K and I. Her new passport was ready for collection and she had to be present so I decided to take her out for the day.

First, we made out way to ICA for the passport collection on a rainy morning where it would have been heavenly to just loll in bed. It was a pretty quick process so we didn't spend that much time there. It was more the traveling back and forth. And the parking wasn't so bad either. Jesus answers prayers!

Next, we went to the dentist at Hougang Mall for K to get her teeth checked. This was inspired by B's checkup just on Wed after he fell and chipped his front tooth. Dentist said it was not because of the fall but more because his front teeth were decaying slightly. :( All due to the boy only wanting to drink juice instead of water and constantly falling asleep while drinking milk. Sigh. Anyway, back to K.

Her first visit to the dentist was to a paedodontist. But she wasn't that successful with K that I decided we won't spend the money on a specialist but went to one that was recommended by my friend.  She was also very gentle with B so I made an appointment for K too. Oh yes, back to her first visit. She was very uncooperative and refused to let the dentist anywhere near her or look at her teeth. But that was back then.

Today, she is 4.5 years old and she knows that her younger brother had seen the dentist and not a single tear was shed. Pressure! Haha.

Here she was being examined.

Getting her teeth cleaned.

She was very pleased with herself and the visit cos she had loads of praise from the dentist and her over enthusiastic parents as well as the little balloon with water in it. A pink one!

After fretting for a while what we could do next since it had been raining the whole morning and hence, swimming was out of the question, we decided to go to the zoo.

She listed the animals that she wanted to see - stingray, otters, hippos, pandas (only arriving in one week's time), naked mole rats and butterflies.

The butterflies at the Fragile Forest.

The bats at the Fragile Rainforest.

At the naked mole rats exhibit.

Lunch at KFC where we saw many kids from My First Skool completely drenched in the water play area. Fully clothed!

Finally, a carousel ride after visiting the rabbits, goals and farabellas. At some point, she said that she wanted to sit on the horse but when I told her that I would not be able to sit on it with her, she chickened out. Never mind. A goal for the next visit perhaps? Or an elephant ride.
