Beyond Spotlight

I have discovered a whole new world beyond Spotlight.

I was making a trip to buy pseudo crocs for K at Beach Road this week. While checking the map on how to get there, I spotted a building named Textile Centre which was nearby. Surely, I would be able to buy loads of fabric there, or so I thought.

So after getting the shoes, I ventured into the unfamiliar grounds of this Textile Centre. As I walked from store to store, my jaw just dropped. Well, I wasn't very impressed with the variety of fabrics available. They were mostly fabrics for guys' pants and shirts. But I loved the other knick knack stores, which had decorative stuff. Clips, decorative accessories for clips, ribbons, bias tapes, piping, elastic fold overs, elastic decorative thingys. So cool. Amazing. But of course, I didn't buy many things. I hadn't any projects in mind for these....yet. But at least I know where to get them if I need them.

Yay. Another venue for shopping. :)

What a way to start 2010

My dad messages P early this morning for us to call him when we wake up.

I called. He asked about our plans for the day and suggested that we drove over to exchange cars and then bring his car for gas and air (he dislocated his elbow in December so he can't drive) and then they'd come to church with us and have lunch later. Amazing. It's the first time he has ever suggested coming to church. Never mind that there was a catch to get his car into shape.

When I was in church during worship, it suddenly dawned on me that this was what I ever really wanted. To have my whole family in church together worshipping. Maybe the worshipping didn't quite happen today but at least it's a start, a great start. I hope and pray for more this coming year. Maybe we'll offer to top up gas and pump the tires again next week! But that will mean I will need to run down the gas for him during the week! Haha.

Oh yes, a dear friend and ex-colleague is moving with his family to Australia - Adelaide this evening. I wish him well and hope to visit them in the near future.
