What I have been up to today.

The little girl has got a flu. It started yesterday. Poor thing really. She hates her nose at the moment.

I decided that we would stay home today instead of going to school. Hopefully she would recover quickly to enjoy the long weekend with papa. Also, although this is definitely the secondary reason, I would get some time with my Brother. :)

I finally received the pattern I purchased online yesterday. It's pyjamas for toddlers. I had gotten the fabric a while ago. It's the first pattern that I used. I spent quite some time the night before reading the instructions very carefully before I started on my project this morning.

It took me a long while to reproduce the pattern this morning. I wanted to keep the original for the larger sizes in future. The drawing plus the cutting of the fabric took almost three hours!

It took me another half a day to sew it all together, with several long pauses when Kim finally managed to drag me away from the machine. :p Although it's size T1, it looks really really huge so I had to amend the length of the pants. Will have to try it on the little girl to see if it's ok. I suspect she would be swimming in it.

Here is the little girl in the huge pjs.

Kim goes to Bollywood

The little girl enjoys music and we often find her stomping her feet, dancing round and round and wriggling her little body to the beat of music. She definitely didn't get this from me. :)

Here is the latest video of Kim having a go at Bollywood style music.

Kite flying

Just 5mins drive from our place, there are two plots of grasslands. Empty for now....until someone decides it's time to build something, which I hope will not be anytime soon.

When you go there in the evenings and especially on weekends, you would see people gathering to fly kites. I had never flown one in my life. After watching these people on several occasions, I bought one. It was the nicest one the stall was selling - Winnie the Pooh. ;) I mean there was a time when I really liked Pooh and his friends, but it really wouldn't have been my first choice if there was only a wider variety.

We made our first trip last week and Pooh didn't take off. A windless day.

Today, we tried once again. We thought there was some breeze when we stuck our heads out of the windows.

Here is Peen flying the kite at a field even nearer our place. But because it wasn't open enough, he didn't get very far, or rather very high.

We then drove to the actual place and I tried my hand at it as well. As you can see, I'm really not very good at this. It looked more like I was dancing (very ungracefully) with the kite!

The little girl was fascinated with the kites for a while but let's face it, how many times can the little girl go, "Wah!!"? She got bored after some time, not to mentioned hot and bothered. She ended up squatting and started picking on the grass and at times tasting it.

It was a really really hot day and we all got a tan just from kite-flying / watching.

Anyway, there was only one time when the kite finally took flight and began to soar. But we ran out of string! Grrrr. After a few more attempts where Pooh nose dived, we called it a day. But not without first stumbling upon a nice guy who sells string for kites! We immediately bought a reel, all ready for our next attempt. :)

What a Fruitful day

Had a really busy day today. I visited three childcare centres in the morning but that will be another post.

In the afternoon, I brought Kim to The Animal Resort near our place. Man, we were greeted with a wonderful pong that left us with no doubt we were near animals.

Kim got to see many furry and feathered friends upclose.

The first were the "Babbits". One of them was out of the cages and wondering free. It took a special interest in Kim.

Then there were the geese honking away loudly. I think we were both a little alarmed. I hurriedly scooped my little girl up just in case she got attacked. Look how big her tiny eyes became!

We saw a flock (other collective nouns I just found on the internet: brace / flush / team) of ducks crossing the road. Begged the silly joke "Why did the ducks (chicken) cross the road?"

Other pretty birds.

There was also a little pond where we stood for a while and about 7 turtles came swimming up to us. They probably thought we were going to feed them. Kim was quite happy to identify them.

Of course, there were her favourite - dogs. These were being groomed.

Some of these were on sale. I just can't figure out what this is. It's like a cross between a poodle and a panda! Will it be called a pooda or a pandle? ;)
